Heading 2
Under the
Sea
July 15, 17, 19
Activities
All of our summer camps are going to include STEAM activities/lessons and there are some super cool ones for Under The Sea!! I can't wait - we'll be building coral reefs, studying what animals and plants live in the ocean zones, making seashell collages, and much more. Our book time will be ocean themed and we might do the "Swim" for our dance time!
Snacks
oh there are too many things to build and eat for our Ocean theme. I'm sure the kids will love the octopi made out of weiners! And the special graham cracker oceans, coral reef cups, ocean/shark jello cups
Special Guest
Oh, we'll find someone to come talk to us about oceans!
Construction
July 22, 24, 26
Activities
One day we'll build tall buildings with legos and blocks.
One day we'll build the house of our choice out of all sizes of boxes
and
One day we will have an expert come in and teach us how to drill and hammer and saw! (with lots of supervision). This week last year was a huge hit!!!! Don't miss it. We'll have some different things to do too.
Snacks
Sandwiches, hot soup out of a thermos, lunchables, summer sausage, cheese, crackers, gogurt, boiled eggs.
And we'll present it all in a lunchbox!!!
And we'll build houses with our snacks before we gobble them up!
Special Guest
We have a wonderful guy who comes in and teaches the kids which tools do what and then each kid gets to try it out. Or just watch if they aren't feeling the building vibe that day. I would love have a woman volunteer her skills that day too so we set a good example that everyone can do construction!
SCience
Aug 5, 7, 9
Activities
Oh snap! I could easily plan 1000 science projects/experiments/arts for this week! We'll be setting up different experiments at different tables so the kids can make their way around, doing a bunch of experiments. There will be some group experiments as well such as hovercraft racing and popsicle stick catapults.
Snacks
We are going to be playing with our food a lot this week. Science experiments require hands on and then we HAVE to eat the results! No worries, we'll be sure everyone only eats what they create.
Special Guest
Science teacher - any one?
Running the
Farm!
July 10, 12, 14
Activities
We are just going to experience lots of farm stuff!
Milking a "cow", making butter, learning how to dig in the dirt, playing music with farm tools, planting seeds, smelling horse and cow poop (dried)(with gloves on),
touching different furs/hair/wool
Experimenting w/eggs
making charcuterie boards
and more!
Special Guest
Pioneer Farms
They will be bringing some things to look at and kids will be making a pioneer toy (Moon spinners)
You and your kids can call and book this day separately so you can enjoy Pioneer Farms!
Life
Skills
Aug 12, 14, 16
Activities
So many things that kids don't really learn young anymore. We'll be writing, stamping, mailing letters. We'll be sweeping/vacuuming/mopping, washing a window, making a bed. We'll go to the laundromat to wash/dry material, then iron it. We're going to do a team exercise that is so cool!!!
Snacks
To continue with our life skills theme, we will learn to make a sandwich, we will peel some veges, cut off the ends and plant them to grow our next crop of food, we'll learn to measure with cups and spoons, we'll set the table. (the food growing piece of this will seque nicely with next week's camp!)
Special Guest
Gosh, do you think we can find a parent that talks about how to live life as part of a family or on your own?

Let's
Eat!
Aug 19, 21, 22
Activities
Can you guess what we'll be doing this week? Not just eating! Nope, we'll be making some food, planting some food, learning about food. We'll try being a herbivore, a carnivore, an omnivore! (Yes, I have a dino expert in my life)
Snacks
One day we'll be doing the vegetarian thing, one day we'll be carnivores (caveman?), the last day we'll mix it up. Whichever day, the kids will be creating and then eating their own food and learning to grow more. (If you attend Life Skills, you will already be growing food from food)
Special Guest
Maybe, we'll have two! A vegetarian and a caveman!! That would be awesome!
