Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT ARE YOUR BUSINESS HOURS?
We have a variety of hours and they may change seasonally, so be sure to visit our hours page for the most up-to-date hours. If we are not open for a booked play session, check our events calendar, we may have something else happening! Be sure to register for events in advance. If you are a therapist or you need the gym for a special reason, please call - we have set aside Thursdays for Private Play. If you have a special occasion or want to hold a meeting, please call - we will sometimes have evenings after 6 pm available.
HOW MUCH DO I PAY TO PLAY?
We charge $15 per child, beginning at 6 months of age for Private Play. The charge for Open Play is $13 per child, beginning at 6 months of age. Children under 6 months are free WITH a paid sibling. Adults are always free! Each play pass includes 90 minutes of play time. We have plenty for even very young babies to do, even if they’re not yet crawling!
I HAVE MULTIPLE CHILDREN, DO I HAVE TO PAY THE SAME RATE FOR ALL OF THEM?
Each child is $15/$13. BUT, we do have discounted rates for Private Play and Open Play if you purchase a package of passes. You can buy a 5 Play Pass Package or a 10 Play Pass Package. Remember, adults are always FREE!
DO YOU OFFER ANY DISCOUNTS?
Yes! We appreciate the sacrifices that Military and First Responder families make and offer a 10% discount for each play pass with valid ID.
I LIKE THE IDEA OF THE PARENTS LOUNGE, BUT WHAT IF I WANT TO USE THE PLAY AREA WITH MY CHILD?
That's great! We encourage parents to play with their child as much as they like, and have full (socks-only) access to the play area. We even have seating right alongside our individual play areas for parents whose children prefer they stay close. If your child is more independent, enjoy our parents lounge or our library where you'll still enjoy full view of the play area!
AT WHAT AGE DO YOU START CHARGING CHILDREN TO PLAY?
Our rule is if your child is playing, we ask you to pay for them to do so. Children under 6 months are free with a paid sibling - otherwise we begin charging at 6 months. If your baby remains in their seat or carrier, there is no charge. We do charge for all children in the gym because we have a section for teenagers and we offer wi-fi. And honestly, everyone wants to try the traverse wall or sit in the hammock swings.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN "WE HAVE A FOCUS ON KIDS WITH ADDITIONAL NEEDS"?
It is our philosophy that EVERY family deserves a place to play that is safe, comfortable and welcoming for the entire family. We designed Kaleidoscope Family Gym to meet some of the additional needs of families in our community. We offer a lot of sensory toys and activities that are fun for everyone to use.
I HAVE A CHILD THAT DOESN'T HAVE ADDITIONAL NEEDS. CAN THEY COME TOO?
Of course! The play equipment in our gym is fun and beneficial for all ages and types of kids (and for parents too).
MY CHILD HAS SENSORY ISSUES AND HATES LOUD NOISES AND BRIGHT LIGHTS
We get that. Our grandson is autistic and can become overwhelmed by noise and too much action. We provide spots in the gym where anyone can take a sensory break. We can turn down the lights and turn off the music - just ask and we'll make every effort to make sure every member of your family is comfortable.
MY KID IS IN A WHEELCHAIR. CAN THEY PLAY?
Yes! Our floors are smooth, our doors are wide, there is lots of open space and a lot of the toys are at a level suitable for wheelchair height.
I HAVE AN INFANT, DO WE PAY TO PLAY AS WELL?
If your infant will be using our play area (our crawler area recommended age is 6 months and up, but will have some toys for the younger babies to use as well!) we'll ask you to purchase a play pass for them. If they are tagging along while big brother or sister plays and the infant won't be playing, they can hang with their caregiver for free. We welcome and encourage baby-wearing here!
WILL KIDS OR PARENTS HAVE TO TAKE OFF THEIR SHOES?
Yes. Outside of our play area we have convenient cubbies for shoes, coats and backpacks. Our play area is strictly SOCKS ONLY. No shoes, no bare feet! If you forget your socks, don't worry! We have socks to purchase and keep for adults and children. We allow car seats and baby carriers in the play area but do NOT permit strollers. Feel free to leave strollers in the entry area by the coat racks and cubbies. For our friends with different abilities who require the use of a stroller or wheeled device,we will clean your wheels before entering the play area. If your child has additional needs and is uncomfortable removing their shoes, we have shoe covers available for purchase. GRIPPY SOCKS WORK BEST ON OUR FLOORS!
CAN WE BRING IN OUR OWN SNACKS OR FOOD?
Yes. All food and drink has to be kept behind the white tables.
NO GUM OR CANDY on the gym floor.
We have wholesome snacks available and we have a selection of sodas and juices. We are NOT a nut-free facility, but we are allergy-aware and ask that you not bring any food containing nuts into the gym. You may NOT bring in a birthday cake or cupcakes during your booked play hours, unless you have arranged ahead with us. During reserved parties, we do allow you to bring your own food and drinks.
HOW LONG DO WE GET TO PLAY?
Your booked play time is 90 minutes.
WHAT IF I ARRIVE EARLY?
If you arrive early for your booked play time, please wait outside or in your car until your play time. We are usually cleaning for the full 30 minutes between sessions. Here's an easy way to tell from your car if you can enter earlier than planned - if the door shade is up, come on in. If the door shade is down, we are still cleaning.
WHAT IF WE ARE RUNNING LATE TO OUR BOOKED PLAY SESSION?
You have a specific 90 minute time-frame reserved for you and your family. If you're running late, you are still welcome to come and play, but your session will still end at the reserved time. PLEASE CALL IF YOU ARE RUNNING LATE.
WHAT IF I HAVE TO CANCEL?
We hope you don't have to cancel, but life happens. If you cancel in advance, we can move your booking and payment to another day. (Rescheduled sessions have to take place within 6 months or the canceled session is void. If you no-show for your session, we do not a reschedule option or a refund. PLEASE CALL ANY TIME YOU HAVE TO CANCEL, even if just 15 minutes before, because we often have a waiting list.
I'M BREASTFEEDING, WILL YOU HAVE ACCOMMODATIONS FOR ME?
We encourage you to feed your child wherever and however you feel comfortable, but please ask if you would like more privacy.
CAN I USE MY FRIENDS MEMBERSHIP CARD, OR GIVE MINE TO A FRIEND TO USE?
No. Memberships MUST be used within an immediate family ONLY. You may not allow other families to use your membership at any time, even if they are visiting with you. They will need to fill out their own agreement and purchase whichever pass they like.
DO YOU ACCEPT CASH & CARDS?
Yes, we accept cash and all major cards including American Express. We do not accept personal checks and we are NOT able to accept bills over $20 at any time.
CAN I HAVE MY CHILD'S BIRTHDAY PARTY DURING NORMAL BUSINESS HOURS AT THE CAFE WITHOUT GOING THROUGH THE BOOKING PROCESS?
No. All of our parties are private and must be booked through the party booking page. We do not allow birthday "play-dates" where guests bring in gifts, and we draw a strict line at bringing in any outside catering, decorations, or re-arranging tables in the cafe to accommodate your "party" without pre-arrangement. If you are bringing your child on their birthday, please instead consider our affordable Thursday Weekday small party option for making your child still feel like the star of the day! Learn more and reserve your child's birth-date here!
DOES YOUR FACILITY ENFORCE A PLAY-AREA CAPACITY?
Yes! We make sure the play area is as comfortable as possible at all times. All appointments must be pre-booked so there should never be an issue with reaching capacity.
CAN YOU PAY FOR CLASSES OR EVENTS AT THE DOOR?
All play dates, classes and events require online registration. Please see our events page for more details and registration information. This helps us plan ahead and make sure our events do not get too crowded!
